Who we are
A Houston Landscaping Company That Actually Knows Houston Soil
Safari Landscape has been one of the go-to landscapers in Houston since 1984. Marc Womack and our certified crew build outdoor spaces that look good on install day and still look good three summers later, which in this city is the harder part.
Houston is a tough place to grow anything. Gumbo clay holds water after a storm and cracks open in August. Humidity brings brown patch and chinch bugs. A hard freeze rolls through every few winters and takes out anything tropical that was planted without a plan. We design around all of that instead of pretending it is not happening, which is why our installs hold up.
We work on single-family homes, townhome courtyards, office parks, retail centers and HOA common areas across Houston, Cypress, Katy, Spring, Tomball, The Woodlands, Sugar Land and Memorial. Same crew, same standards, whether it is a 40 foot front bed or a 12 acre commercial site.

Our services
Landscaping Services for Houston Homes and Businesses
Custom Landscape Design
We plan the whole yard before a single plant goes in the ground. Layout, plant selection, hardscape, lighting and drainage, drawn out so you can see it first. Built for Houston sun, Houston rain and Houston clay.
Seasonal Planting & Flowers
Fresh flower beds rotated three or four times a year so your property never looks tired. Snapdragons and pansies for winter, begonias and vinca for summer heat. Popular with homes, offices and retail entrances.
Irrigation & Water Management
New sprinkler system installation, repairs, valve and head replacement, drip lines for beds, and smart controllers that cut your water bill. We find the leak your last company could not.
Landscaping Projects
Sod installation, mulch and bed builds, patios, walkways, retaining walls and drainage fixes. Full property makeovers from bare dirt to finished yard.
Tractor Mowing & Bush Hogging
Acreage mowing, pasture cutting, brush clearing, lot prep and detention pond maintenance. When the job is too big for a walk-behind, we bring the tractor.
Professional Lawn Care
Weekly and bi-weekly lawn mowing across Houston. Cut, edge, line trim and blow down every visit. St. Augustine, Bermuda and Zoysia all cut at the right height.
Lawn Care & Maintenance Packages
One monthly plan that covers mowing, bed care, fertilization, pruning, mulch and irrigation checks. Set it and stop thinking about the yard.

Questions
Landscaping in Houston: Common Questions
How much does landscaping cost in Houston?
Most Houston front yard refreshes run between $2,500 and $8,000 depending on square footage, plant sizes and whether hardscape is involved. Full backyard designs with patios, lighting and irrigation typically start around $15,000. Weekly lawn mowing for a standard residential lot usually falls in the $45 to $75 per visit range. We give you a written price after a free site visit, so you are never guessing.
What is the best time of year to landscape in Houston?
Fall and early spring are the sweet spots. October through March lets new plants and sod put roots down before the summer heat hits, and the ground is easier to work. That said, we install year round in Houston. Summer installs just need more water for the first six weeks.
Do you handle both residential and commercial landscaping?
Yes. About half our work is commercial: office parks, retail centers, HOA common areas, apartment complexes and industrial sites. We hold commercial insurance and can provide certificates for property managers.
Which grass grows best in Houston?
St. Augustine is the most common because it handles shade and Houston humidity well. Bermuda works in full sun and heavy-traffic areas but browns out in shade. Zoysia sits in between, denser than St. Augustine and slower growing. We will tell you which one suits your yard during the site visit.
How often should a Houston lawn be mowed?
Weekly from March through October, when growth is fastest. Bi-weekly is usually enough from November through February. Mowing weekly in season keeps you from cutting more than a third of the blade at once, which is what causes the yellow, scalped look.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, Safari Landscape is licensed and carries full liability and workers' compensation insurance. We can send a certificate of insurance before work starts.
Do you offer free estimates?
Every quote is free. We come to the property, take measurements, look at drainage and soil, and send a written price with no obligation.
